The Center for Endometriosis Care Supports National Women’s Health Week!

The CEC is extremely pleased to serve once again as an annual supporter of the National Women’s Health Week initiative, sponsored each year by the National Women’s Health Information Center, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Office on Women’s Health.

This year, Women’s Health Week will be taking place from May 11-17,2008.

This national effort calls attention each year to the importance of women’s health issues and is marked by over 1,000 collaborative events across the country.  “National Women’s Health Week calls upon the country’s 150 million women to reconnect to their health,” says Dr. Wanda Jones, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health for the U.S. Department of Health & Human  Services.

National Women's Health Week empowers women across the country to get healthy by taking action. The nationwide initiative, coordinated by the  U.S.Department of Health and Human Services' Office on Women's Health (OWH), encourages women to make their health a top priority and take simple steps for a longer, healthier and happier life. During the week, families, communities, businesses, government, health organizations and other groups work together to educate women about steps they can take to improve their physical and mental health and prevent disease.

Though each year has a different theme, the underlying mission is the same: focusing on the importance of women's health.  “We want to tell our mothers, our sisters, our daughters, our aunts and friends: take some time for yourself.  One of the best gifts you can give yourself is to schedule an annual visit with a health care provider,” says Dr. Jones.

The CEC believes “there is no time like the present” to take control of your disease, and so in honor of this important Week, we are continuing to provide our free records reviews, case evaluations and screening services to all those who would like to determine if the CEC can help them.  We will also be providing free Endometriosis and National Women's Health Week literature in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Office on Women’s Health.  We strongly encourage all those who have (or think they may suffer from) Endometriosis to take advantage of our free services, particularly during this time of important collaboration with the National Women’s Health Week endeavor.
